Move to Harpers Ferry
Effective Feb 4, 2007 The Purcellville Reformed
Presbyterian Fellowship has relocated to Harpers Ferry WV
and changed it's Name to Shenandoah Valley Reformed Presbyterian
Church
Why Move?
For several years now, our
congregation has met for Sunday Worship Services at the
Purcellville, VA. Community Center under the name Purcellville
Reformed Presbyterian Fellowship. In December 2006 we
received notice that the Community Center will be shut down for
a 1 year renovation. The congregation met to discuss options
and the observation was made that most of the members currently
reside in Jefferson County West Virginia. With the concurrence
of the Trinity RPC Session (our parent church), the decision was
made to seek a new home in Jefferson County.
Where are we moving
to?
Initially we will be meeting in the
old Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, located at
970 Washington Street, in Harpers Ferry
West Virginia. We anticipate moving to Shipley
Elementary School some time this spring or summer. Shipley
Elementary School is located just of Rt 340 between Harpers
Ferry and Charles Town. The church currently worshiping at
Shipley, Fellowship Bible Church, is working to finish
construction on their new church building. The Jefferson County
Board of Education has approved our request to use the school
for worship services on Sunday and Bible studies / youth
activities on Wednesday evenings once Fellowship Bible Church
moves into their new building.
Directions to 970 Washington Street in Harpers Ferry WV.
Why "Shenandoah
Valley Reformed Presbyterian Church"?:
Obviously, leaving Purcellville, we
could no longer continue to use the name Reformed Presbyterian
Church of Purcellville. Harpers Ferry sits at the confluence of
the Shenandoah and Potomac Rivers. Jefferson and Berkeley
Counties in West Virginia and Clark County in Virginia are
considered to be the northern end of, and the Gateway to, the
Shenandoah Valley.
Schedule
Changes:
Once we move to Harpers Ferry, our
Sunday Morning Worship will begin at 10:30 a.m. followed by
Sabbath School classes at 11:45 a.m.. Mid-week Bible studies
will begin at 7:00 p.m.
Special
Thanks:
Pastor Butterfield and the
Congregation wish thank Alan Norton and Partners from
Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home
for their generosity in allowing us to use their old building
for our Worship of God, fellowship, and the study of His word
while we wait for Shipley Elementary School to be come
available. Their assistance is a true blessing for our
congregation.
